Birthday Blending

Hi guys, I have two cards to share with you today that I have dubbed Birthday Blending.

I fell in love with the Hello Gorgeous stamp set by Honey Bee Stamps because it’s big, it’s lush and it’s so versatile. Recently, I showed it in a haul video and I was ‘itching’ to make something with it. The floral accents in the set lend themselves to be used for colouring, die cutting and embossing. For these cards I went with embossing as I knew I wanted to ink blend the florals.

Firstly, I heat embossed the image on some white cardstock. Then, I ink blended alternating between two color combos with Ranger’s distress inks. For the blue card, I used Evergreen Bough and Peacock Feathers. For the pink card I used Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry. Spraying some water with the distress sprayer helped give some added interest to the background colors. For the sentiment, I die cut three ‘birthdays’ from the Honey Bee Stamps die set called Celebrate as the size of the sentiment was perfect.

To finish, I added some really pretty floral accents which complimented this stamp set to well and added that extra something, something. Keep an eye out for an up coming video showing how I made these beauties.

Well, it’s been a pleasure chatting with you today, if you want to see how I made them on YouTube see below!

I will look forward to seeing you again next week over at the Honey Bee blog.

By for now

Hugs, Cheryl 🙂

Anything Goes Wednesday Challenge

Hi guys, here is my entry into this week’s Wednesday challenge over at Simon Says Stamp. Its called,   Anything Goes.

This gave me an opportunity to play with February’s card kit. It is sold out as a package but you can purchase the items individually so don’t worry. Unless I got the kits ahead of time, I would never be able to show you something made from it while it is still in stock. This is because the kits sell out so fast! You can get the coffee cup die here and the stamp set is called Coffee & Tea.

Another product I have been itching to use is the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors.  They are a smaller palette of 6 metallic water based pigment inks, and they are so lush. As the set includes various golds, I thought they would make the perfect backdrop for a coffee themed card.

You will see I die cut the cup twice, one with standard card stock, the other with patterned paper which was in the kit. I popped it on a circle of vellum, which allowed the background to show through. The color pops and goes so well with that golden background look. To finish,  I added a couple of golden hearts and a paper clip both of which were also in the kit.

Hopefully my card is a lucky winner, fingers crossed!

Have a great weekend folks and see you soon.

Hugs, Cheryl 🙂

Happy Birthday Kitties

Hi guys, I have a card to share with you today that I have called Happy Birthday Kitties.

To make this card I used two different Honey Bee stamp sets called Curious Kitties and Hooray. I have to say I love these little kittens and it was a pleasure creating with them on behalf of Honey Bee Stamps. The way the same cat has different poses is just adorable.

To achieve the green effect for the grounding of the images, I masked off the base then ink blended it using a dark and lighter green. This then gave me a platform on which to sit my little kitties. For the colouring, I used my Copic markers, which tends to be what I use primarily for colouring in images.

There are extra add-ons included in the set which help to create scenes. For this card, I added the fish bowl, fish and bubbles. Also, you may notice that I also added a wee bow which I coloured the same as the fish bowl. This brought all the colors together nicely.

To finish, I added the Happy and the Birthday from the Hooray stamp set to make this a ‘purrfect’ card for any cat lover!

Well, I will sign off for now and look forward to seeing you again next time at the Honey Bee blog!
