Snappy Birthday

Hi guys, I’m back with Snappy Birthday!

It been nearly a year since I last wrote a blog post.

Throughout 2017, I was not a well puppy and as a result I had to take a step back. I was getting pretty overwhelmed for a while.

I work in the mental health field and if I was to continue helping others successfully, then I should also take care of myself. So I did!

One promise I made was to my lovely crafty friend Lesley Oman over at Heffy Doodle Stamps. During the last year, Lesley has set up her own business designing and selling her own rubber stamps. I promised to use one of her stamp sets when making my first card of 2018. And here it is… Snappy Birthday.

The stamp set used is called Happy Snappy Crocs, and its so unique and fun. I just couldn’t resist adding the google eyes.

Looking forward to chatting with you again very soon.

Hugs, Cheryl 🙂

Two Step Stamping with the MISTI and Honey Bee Stamps

Hi guys

Welcome to my blog where I am demonstrating some two step stamping with the MISTI and Honey Bee Stamps.

This is part of a blog hop and giveaway between these two wonderful companies. For a chance to win the Honey Bee giveaway and the MISTI giveaway (winner’s choice of original or mini), you will need to leave a comment on each blog. Scroll down to comment on my blog and to find the full list of the other incredible blogs participating in the hop. The winners of the MISTI and the Honey Bee gift certificate, will be announced here at the My Sweet Petunia Blog on April 7th.

I don’t know what I would do without my MISTI now. It has become such a staple tool in my craft room. It used to be quite a skill of a steady hand and a keen eye to line stamps up correctly. Now with the MISTI, two step stamping has become a lot easier.

The beautiful stamp set I am using to demonstrate this technique is called Cherish by Honey Bee Stamps. As well has having this amazing flower stamp that is perfect for this technique, it also has the most beautiful  Cherish sentiment. The font is wonderful.

I started out by choosing three sets of two color combos for the flowers. A lighter and a darker shade of each color family. Firstly, I stamped the solid image with the lighter color using my MISTI. I then repeated this two or three times. I like to stamp the solid image at least twice to ensure a good impression. Then, using the MISTI to line up the  flower outline stamp on top of the solid image, I stamped the second image with the darker color, hence two step stamping!

When I had stamped a few flowers, I did extra ones on some separate cardstock and die cut these. On an A2 card base I added some floral paper. Then, after die cutting a slightly smaller rectangle base around the stamped floral images, I cut one corner off for added interest. This would also allow you to see the floral paper underneath. On the back of this cardstock I added some foam tape and popped it up onto the A2 card base. With the extra die cut flowers, I also added some foam tape and popped them over just a couple of the original flowers. This was for added dimension. For an extra something – something, I added some crystal embellishments to finish the card off.

Hooray on your Birthday

Hi Guys, I am over at the Honey Bee Stamps blog today showcasing my card Hooray on your Birthday.

Today’s card is made using two stamp sets from Honey Bee’s  latest release called Hooray and Celebration Box. Both sets have matching dies.

I was drawn to the balloons in the Celebration Box set because I wanted to make something colorful and bright. Also, having a cheery birthday card tucked away is really handy!

I am quite a fan of these two sets as they work so well together. It’s amazing how many occasions can be covered by these two sets alone. Birthdays, engagements, weddings, graduations and births….including twins!

For my card, I decided to die cut the balloons from co-ordinating papers. Alternatvely, you could stamp the balloon images and color them using markers or watercolors. I wanted to go with bright bold colors so they would pop off the card. I added some curly strings and popped up a couple of the balloons for added dimension.

Finally, I used my MISTI tool for stamping the Hooray before die cutting it. It’s a large stamp and I also wanted it to be really bold so it required double stamping. Then, I popped this up over the balloons.

I hope you have a great rest of week guys and I will see you again very soon.

Hugs, Cheryl 🙂
