Hi guys, Christmas is coming and I have been making shaker Christmas cards.
I have just returned from vacation and therefore spent this last weekend organizing and creating.
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. I love making Christmas cards. I smile when I see my children getting all excited too. My daughter gets as excited as I do, so I think I have passed on the Christmas spirit 🙂
My husband and I spent most of Sunday updating the postage card list and then writing them out. Of course, this was all done while listening to festive music, which my husband was not thrilled about! As we have a few items to be posted out to the UK, organization is key. Cards and parcels need to be ready to go by the end of November, if they stand any chance of them being delivered in time.
Every year since the grandchildren have been born, I have had the tradition of posting a pre-Christmas parcel from Nani in Canada. Usually it consists of treats like crafting goodies, colouring books, sweets and of course, their special Christmas Cards. This year I made 3 shaker cards which are in those parcels as I write. They are added to this post too so you can see them.
This week it is my intention to get a video downloaded and get my latest creations up on social media.
Well, I hope this week is a good one for you guys and remember, if you have any questions, you can comment below or you can fill out the contact form.
Bye for now, Cheryl 🙂
Of all the companies out there, I really gravitate towards Lawn Fawn when I think of making Christmas cards. I think it’s because the images are so cute, and they are really good at including little images so you can make many different scenes.
Keeping myself focused on one stamp company was really helpful because I have a very busy mind. Card making is certainly a real bonus in managing my mental health as it encourages me to stay focused and in the moment.
I hope this post inspires you to take some time out for yourself and create. Let me know what you think of the Lawn Fawn gallery below!
Bye for now, Cheryl 🙂

Hi guys, here’s my three entries for the 2016 Card Design Superstar contest held by My Favorite Things.
There are some rules. You have to use only MFT supplies, and cards entered must be originals and have never been seen before. The good news is, you can have up to three entries.
For my cards, I tried to utilize different techniques. These included, stamping, die cutting, ink blending, Copic colouring and embossing. Also, the cards made were from some of my favourite sets. MFT have so many amazing stamp sets for sure, but the moose is just cuteness overload 🙂
I think its pretty cool that there are opportunities out there for average peeps like myself, to enter competitions for card design. There is the sketch challenge and the color challenge that I try to enter every week, but this is a biggie really!
I had to try not to look to closely at some of the entries because some are amazing! Other people obviously have talent but also must experience the joy and peace that I do by creating. The MFT staff are going to have a very difficult task on their hands trying to pick the winners.
Well, I hope you get a chance to enter the 2016 Card Design Superstar contest and if so, good luck! Don’t forget to wish me luck too 🙂
Have a great week and I will chat with you again very soon.
Hi Guys, It’s been a while so I thought I should do a blog update of the weekly challenges that I have participated in. For some reason, I didn’t do one last week, oops :/
As you know I like to participate in the Color Throwdown Challenge and the MFT Wednesdays Sketch Challenge. I find using the Sketch challenge really helpful in building up a stash of 2016 Christmas cards.
I am not sure if you realize this but Simon Says Stamp have been having their yearly celebration of stamps. During the month of September they give great discounts on stamp sets and have daily collaborations with some of the biggest names in the industry! Also, some of the stamp sets are only available while stocks last, so go take a look!
The first card uses one of those stamp sets called You Matter. I used the set and the matching die. The sentiments in this set are amazing and so versatile.
The second card is my entry for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge. I used another Simon Says Stamp set here but it is quite old now. They collaborated with Clearly Besotted Stamps on this one I think.
I hope you have a wonderful week. I have the in laws arriving on Thursday from Scotland so my house will be busy!
