Hi Guys, It’s been a while so I thought I should do a blog update of the weekly challenges that I have participated in. For some reason, I didn’t do one last week, oops :/
As you know I like to participate in the Color Throwdown Challenge and the MFT Wednesdays Sketch Challenge. I find using the Sketch challenge really helpful in building up a stash of 2016 Christmas cards.
I am not sure if you realize this but Simon Says Stamp have been having their yearly celebration of stamps. During the month of September they give great discounts on stamp sets and have daily collaborations with some of the biggest names in the industry! Also, some of the stamp sets are only available while stocks last, so go take a look!
The first card uses one of those stamp sets called You Matter. I used the set and the matching die. The sentiments in this set are amazing and so versatile.
The second card is my entry for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge. I used another Simon Says Stamp set here but it is quite old now. They collaborated with Clearly Besotted Stamps on this one I think.
I hope you have a wonderful week. I have the in laws arriving on Thursday from Scotland so my house will be busy!
Hi Guys, It’s the Color Throwdown Challenge 408.
The colors are primary blue, yellow, green and red. They are really colourful!! As each color was so bold I thought I would keep the card simple and to the point. Blending and mixing may not have worked so well, so I opted for die cutting.
The dies used are the Stitched Scallop Die Edges by MFT Stamps and the sentiment is from the Rainbow Greetings stamp set, also by MFT.
The kiddies go back to school after their summer holidays and Calgary is showing signs of fall. Leaves are falling and the heating needs to be on now due to chilly mornings.
I hope you have a lovely week, see you next time!
Regards, Cheryl 🙂
Hi guys, here’s my entry for this week Color Throwdown Challenge #407
The colours from this week’s inspirational photo are lime green, teal, and yellow. You can also use neutrals, so I used black as I thought it complimented the three colors perfectly.
For some reason my mojo wouldn’t turn on at first and I kept hitting a blank trying to come with an idea. However, this didn’t last long and I decided to do something completely different with a background stamp. I decided to use a background stamp as my main focal point for the card. I decided to color parts of the stamp with Copic markers in a coordinated fashion. I think the background stamp had a kind of psychedelic look and with these colors the card could turn out quite retro. In case you are curious the maker colors used are Y13, Y18, YG05, YG09 & BG18. To finish off the card I added some dots with my Tuxedo Black Pico Embellisher.
Hope you like my effort for this week. Its not too late to enter this weeks challenge just go to the Color Throwdown Challenge Blogspot.
Have agreed week folks….long weekend next weekend, yay!
Hi guys, Im back today to show you my entry for this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge 406.
This weeks colors are orange, green, pale pink and white and reminded me of Halloween and a fall wedding. As I do not make Halloween cards, I opted for a fall vintage chic wedding theme.
I decided to use a stamp set from a new company that I haven’t purchased from before called Concord & 9th. They are quite a new company that seem to be growing in the industry. When I see this growth, it gives me the impression that the photopolymer that they use for their stamps must be good quality. There is nothing more frustrating that not getting clean crisp image when stamping!
The cake image in the set is incredible. I think the image is quite unique as I haven’t seen anything like it before. For your reference, the stamp set is called Happy Day.
This stamp set contains many sentiments for weddings and birthdays, and also includes various words and numbers. This is helpful for me as I build up a crd with someone specific in mind. As I love ink blending, I decided to white emboss the cake and ink blend the colors over the image. You will see that I tried to concentrated the orange on the flowers and the background, then worked around this with the green on the foliage and pink on the cake.
Keep an eye out for the weekly Color Throwdown Challenges.
Well, thats me for today. I will have another post coming out later this week so keep and eye out.
Bye for now, Cheryl 🙂
